Sludge Thickener - KD 24

The sludge thickener operates by directing the sludge from bio tanks and the like to a dedicated tank where a slow-moving agitator with vertical bars is installed.

The purpose of this agitator is to gently mix the sludge while creating passages for the capillary water to reach the surface.

Thickening of the sludge is carried out without the use of additives such as polymers. Under normal conditions, a significant increase in solids content from the inlet can be achieved, typically from around 0.8%TS to a range between 5 and 7%TS.

KD 24 is not only limited to wastewater treatment, but is also used in waterworks to optimise and reuse rinse water for sand filters.

This Sludge Thickener is designed to concentrate the sludge from backwashing sand filters, enabling reuse of this rinse water.

This contributes to a more sustainable and resource-efficient operation of waterworks by minimising water consumption and reducing the amount of waste material.
